A mother of three with a passion for family and a love of candles. For the past 30 years I have lived and raised my family in Cordova Bay. I have been making candles for the past four years and giving them away as gifts. When the response was so well received, I decided to share my passion with more people. Thus, Cordova Candle Co. was born! Cordova Candle Co. was built on the idea of scent-memory connection through nostalgic scents that remind you of a place or time. I wanted to develop certain scent combinations to be mindful of different parts of the city that I enjoyed exploring with my children as they were growing up. Each candle is purposefully named after a different part of the city that we loved exploring and that we call home!
Jake Humphrey, began woodworking at the age of 12 in Powell River, BC. At the time, he used his parents garage as a makeshift workshop where he made walking sticks, candle holders and small pieces of furniture. On the weekends and at Christmas, he spent my time at local craft fairs selling my handmade goods. By the time Jake was 15, he had moved to Shawnigan Lake and started Pacific Woodworks. This allowed him to venture into fine woodwork and wood turning, selling goods at local craft fairs and art galleries. Jakes passion for wood turning landed him a job at a local fine woodworking shop when he was 17, giving him valuable experience working as a furniture maker, and a constant source of wood to turn on the weekends. In the years since, Jake ventured away from woodworking. Attending college to get a diploma in Environmental Sciences, University for a degree in Geography, and eventually Grad School. However, he realized that woodworking was something that he enjoyed too much to push to the wayside. In early 2017, Jake purchased a new lathe and have been turning at every chance he gets! In 2018, Jake has expanded his business and is working on introducing new products and designs under the brand new name Pacifica Woodwork & Design.

Kelsea learned how to knit at seven years old and has been knitting ever since. She has a BBA with honours in Psychology and Human Resources from Bishop’s University and an MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Guelph. Kelsea used knitting as a way to keep her hands busy while she was studying, reading, or watching reality TV. Inspired by her sister’s plight to keep plants alive, the idea for Kelsea Knits was born out of a Christmas gift of a set of four miniature knit cacti in glass vases for her sister. Interest in the cacti grew on social media, and Kelsea Knits was officially born in 2017.

I have lived a lifetime with thread and fabric. I sewed garments for myself and my toddlers, patched my husbands work jeans. Until, when my daughters were teens, they gifted me with a beginners quilting class and I became hooked..... line and sinker! I've spent the last decade collecting fabric, tools, sewing machines in anticipation of retirement. I now have the freedom and the time to spend with my chosen craft. I love design, experimentation, discovering new techniques. I hope to never stop learning.

The SWAHT Shop has specialized in designing and creating luxurious hot water bottle covers since 2015. Pat, the owner, started sewing when she was 12 years old and has never stopped! Having spent several years designing and making custom eveningwear, she has transposed her love of producing luxury clothing to now producing easy-care, designer wear for “hotties”: from decadent faux fur covers for adults to snuggly plush covers for children.
This year, Pat is beginning to diversify by adding some new hand-made, self-care items in her shop. Check out her non-allergenic, washable, weighted eye pillows now in store and stop by often to browse other new items as they are added to the shelves.
All of the items in The SWAHT Shop are made right here in beautiful Victoria, BC! If you are local and wish to make a purchase from Pat’s shop, please send her a message prior to placing your order to arrange for curbside pick up and to save on delivery charges.
